In his article Tanin und Trauma – Über die Visualisierung von Sensorik in der französisch-japanischen Serie Drops of God Dr. Felix Hüttemann explores the Apple TV+ series Drops of God in regards to it’s sensoric depiction. The article disscusses the central paradox of a visual medium which primarily sets out to delve into the complex dimension of wine tasting. Dr. Hütteman thus asks: How can gustatory perceptions, which by nature elude direct audiovisual representation, be translated into the senses of sight and hearing? The article focuses on the question of which cinematic and narrative means the series employs to make taste and sensory perception accessible through only visual and auditory means.
